Great hockey pedigree. His uncle Dave Christian was on the 1980 United States Miracle on Ice gold medal team, and his grandfather, Bill Christian, and great uncle, Roger Christian, were both on the 1960 United States gold medal team. Another great uncle, Gordon Christian played for the United States at the 1956 Winter Olympics, capturing a silver medal.
Excellent size for the center position. Also a good two-way player. Below average as a playmaker in a center position. Also used on the wing.
Strong in the corners. Slick hands in traffic, especially right around the net. A bit of game-to-game inconsistency.
He won the Accuracy Shooting title in the NHL All Star Game in 2023 in his first participation.

Son oncle Dave Christian a participé au Miracle de 1980 tandis que son grand-père Bill Christian et son grand-oncle Roger Christian ont été aussi champions olympiques en 1960. Un autre grand-oncle, Gordon Christian, a représenté les États-Unis aux Jeux olympiques 1956 et remporté une médaille d'argent.
D'un excellent gabarit pour la position de centre (191 cm, 96 kg), il y est meilleur dans un rôle défensif que dans un rôle créatif. Il est aussi utilisé à l'aile.
Fort dans les coins, il a des mains habiles dans le trafic, surtout à proximité immédiate du filet. Un peu inconstant d'un match à l'autre.
Il a remporté le concours de précision de tir au All Star Game 2023 de NHL, à sa première participation.
