Slight, speedy winger. Smooth-skating forward who thrived on his quickness.
Born in East Kildonan, a residential community in Winnipeg, MB.
Won the Turnbull Cup (MJHL), Memorial Cup, Allan Cup, World Championships and Stanley Cup.
Tried out with Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL prior to the 1938/39 season.
Later played for Toronto Maple Leafs, winning two Stanley Cups.
Formed a fearsome duo with Dick Kowcinak for several years.
Served in WW II with RCAF. Used his hockey money to finish college.
Got a bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mining from the University of Toronto.
Became a mining executive, working for Inco from 1949 until his death. Appointed vice-president of the company in 1970.
Just before his death he was elected president of the Canadian Institute of Mines and Metallurgy.
He passed away at Toronto General Hospital from complications following surgery.

Il fit un essai avec les Maple Leafs de Toronto avant la saison NHL 1938/39.
Il devint champion du monde cette saison-là et rejoignit cette franchise plus tard, pour remporter deux coupes Stanley.
Il forma un duo détonant avec Dick Kowcinak durant plusieurs années.
Dans l'armée de l'air canadienne pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale.
Il a utilisé l'argent du hockey pour financer ses études. Diplôme en sciences appliquées aux mines à l'Université de Toronto.
Cadre dans l'industrie minière chez Inco de 1949 à sa mort. Désigné vice-président de la compagnie en 1970.
Juste avant sa mort il fut élu président de l'institut canadien des mines et de la métallurgie.
Décédé à l'hôpital général de Toronto suite à des complications post-opératoires.
29 points (17+12) en 64 parties de saison régulière dans la NHL.
