Scottish born and trained player. He was born in the Pollockshields district of Glasgow. His maternal grandfather was a director of the Scottish Ice Rink that operated the Crossmyloof ice rink in Glasgow. Jardine first appeared as a junior in 1935 playing for the Mohawks jr. team.
During the war he served in the Merchant Navy and played for Ayr Spitfires. After the war he continued to play hockey with the Glasgow Mohawks. Jardine worked for many years in the family owned meat contracting business. In 1949 he also married the daughter of a major meat supplier.
Jardine eventually quit hockey to pursue his family commitments. In later life he retired to Cardross on the Dumbartonshire coast. He passed away at the age of 75 at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.

Écossais de naissance et de formation, et même Glaswegian puisque né dans le quartier de Pollockshields à Glasgow. Son grand-père maternel y était directeur de la patinoire Crossmyloof. Jardine débuta le hockey à 11 ans dans les rangs de jeunes des Mohawks.
Un peu jeune pour être envoyé au front, il fut engagé par la marine marchande pendant la Seconde guerre mondiale tandis qu'il jouait avec les Ayr Spitfires. Reprit chez les Mohawks après le conflit tout en étant employé du commerce familial de négoce en viande. Épousa d'ailleurs la fille d'un grossiste en bidoche.
Jardine finit par laisser tomber le hockey quand la famille et son emploi exigèrent trop de lui. S'installa après sa retraite à Cardross, au bord de la mer, dans le comté du Dumbartonshire. Mort à 75 ans au Crosshouse Hospital de Kilmarnock.
