His father Vladimír Sr. played many years in the Czechoslovakian league. Vladimír Jr. scored almost a point per game during his hockey career.
Represented Czechoslovakia 15 times (3 goals). Drafted in the NHL by Minnesota North Stars 1984. Finished his playing career with three seasons in Finland.
Retired in 1991. Went on to coach in the Czech Republic.

Fils d'un ancien joueur du championnat tchécoslovaque, lui aussi prénommé Vladimír. Fiston fera une carrière à presque un point par match dans la même compétition.
15 sélections nationales (trois buts). Drafté en 1984 par les North Stars où il n'ira jamais, il était un peu tôt pour les joueurs de sa génération. Finira par trois saisons en Finlande.
Après sa retraite de joueur en 1991, il s'est mué en un entraîneur à succès de l'Extraliga tchèque.
