Son of a Canadian father (Scottish heritage) and Dutch mother. Holds both Canadian and Dutch citizenship.
Tall and lanky goaltender (193 cm - 6-4).
Great confidence between the pipes. Very athletic goaltender with an icy-cool demeanor.
A bit raw when it came to learning shooters' tendencies, improving in that area as he got older.
Made his NHL debut on December 19, 2015 in a 2–1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Fils d'un père canadien (d'origine écossaise) et d'une mère néerlandaise, il possède les deux nationalités.
Gardien grand et longiligne (1m93).
Grande confiance entre ses poteaux. Gardien très athlétique, au comportement plein de sang-froid.
Un peu en délicatesse au départ pour lire les intentions des lanceurs, il s'améliore sur ce point avec l'âge.
Il débuta en NHL le 19 décembre 2015 par une défaite 2–1 contre les Hurricanes de la Caroline.
