Learned to play hockey in Alberta but moved to West Germany in the mid-1970s where he established himself as one of the most reliable blueliners in German hockey.
He brought in a good mixture of North American physicality and fine positional awareness.
Obtained his German citizenship late in 1977 and immediately earned a spot on the West German national team.
Retired in 1989 after having spent well over a decade in Germany. Became Wolfsburg ice hockey coach for two years.

Il a appris le hockey dans l'Alberta et arriva en Allemagne de l'ouest au milieu des années 1970 où il s'est établi comme l'un des meilleurs défenseurs d'Allemagne.
Il possédait un savant mélange du jeu physique nord-américain et un positionnement efficace.
Il a obtenu la nationalité allemande fin 1977 et a tout de suite obtenu sa place en équipe d'Allemagne de l'ouest.
Retraité en 1989 après avoir joué douze saisons en Allemagne, et devenu entraîneur de Wolfsburg pendant deux ans.
