Younger of two brothers who grew up in Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto. Started skating at the age of five.
A smart, studious player. His understanding of what he could do made him a force on the blueline for 21 NHL seasons.
Somewhat underrated despite being a Hall of Famer.
His fine offensive instincts were developed as a kid when he often played as a forward.
Steady, reliable and offensively gifted. Won a total of four Stanley Cups (1991, 1992, 1997, 1998).
Retired in 2001. Murphy went on to work as a color analyst for the Detroit Red Wings.

Stable, fiable, et offensivement doué. Il a gagné quatre coupes Stanley (1991, 1992, 1997, 1998).
Retraité en 2001, Murphy est devenu consultant pour les Red Wings de Detroit.
1216 points (287+929) en 1615 parties de saison régulière dans la NHL.
