Began playing hockey as a kid thanks to his father and a neighbour who used to take him to games in Trenčín.
Was a poor skater which prompted him to become a goaltender.
Was known to always bend the rules any way he could. He stuffed his pants so that they became wider around the hips.
Another thing that he did was that he added extra padding to his shoulders. He also used wider goalie pads.
He also liked to pile up snow at the goalline, which saved him from goals on more than one occasion.
Chosen as the best goalie in the Slovakian extraliga 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2005.
Murin also was chosen as the best goalie in the Czech Extraliga 2004.
In 2008 he refused to let the referee measure his pads and was fined 250.000 crowns (ca $ 14.000 at the time).
Worked as a goaltending coach after he retired in 2012.

Il a commencé le hockey enfant grâce à son père et un voisin qui l'emmenaient voir les matchs de Trenčín.
Très faible patineur, ce qui l'a naturellement poussé dans les cages.
Connu pour avoir toujours tenté de contourner les règles. Il bourrait sa culotte afin de prendre de l'épaisseur autour des hanches.
Au niveau des épaules, il ajoutait également du rembourrage. Ses jambières étaient plus larges.
Il pilait énormément de neige sur sa ligne de but, ce qui sauva des buts en plusieurs occasions.
Désigné meilleur gardien d'Extraliga slovaque en 1996, 1997, 2000 et 2005.
Murin fut également meilleur gardien d'Extraliga tchèque en 2004.
En 2008 il refusa de laisser un arbitre mesurer ses jambières et reçut une amende de 250 000 couronnes (environ 10 000 euros de l'époque).
Devenu entraîneur des gardiens après sa retraite en 2012.
