Younger brother of Joe Mullen. Raised in the Hell's Kitchen borough of New York City. Very close to his brother Joe.
Grew up playing roller hockey and made the change to the ice game after seeing his older brother play.
Was the stickboy for the visiting teams at Madison Square Garden between 1977-79.
Excellent penalty killer and a type of player who performed any task given to him by his coaches.
Retired in 1993 after suffering from a small stroke during training.
This required an open-heart surgery. He recovered fully.
Went on to work as a stagehand for CBS, building sets for TV-shows.
Also a hockey coach in New York.

Petit frère de Joe Mullen. Il a grandi dans le quartier new-yorkais d'Hell's Kitchen. Très proche de son frère Joe.
Il pratiquait le roller hockey et passa sur la glace après avoir vu son frère y jouer.
Il était porteur de crosses pour les équipes en déplacement au Madison Square Garden entre 1977 et 1979.
Excellent en infériorité numérique, le genre de joueur à être efficace dans toutes les tâches que pouvait lui donner l'entraîneur.
Retraité en 1993 après avoir subi un petit AVC à l'entraînement.
Il dut être opéré à coeur ouvert mais guérit totalement.
Il est devenu machiniste pour CBS, construisant des décors pour des émissions de télévision.
Egalement entraîneur de hockey à New York.
622 points (260+362) en 832 parties de saison régulière dans la NHL.
