Intelligent and effective player who lacked size but used his smartness to great advantage.
Adept backchecker and good penalty killer. Resilient and could absorb hits well.
Spent his junior career in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. He then joined Father Bauers Canadian National Team for five years.
Studied history at the same time, getting a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Manitoba. Also earned a Ph.D. in history from Queen’s University.
Played in the NHL as well as one year in Sweden. Retired as a player in 1976/77.
Became a professor of history at Brandon University in Manitoba.

Bon au repli défensif et en infériorité numérique. Résilient, il résistait aux charges les plus dures.
Il a pratiqué son hockey junior en Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League avant de rejoindre la team Canada du père Bauer pendant cinq ans.
Dans le même temps, il a obtenu une licence et un master d'histoire de l'Université du Manitoba. Il a aussi obtenu un doctorat d'histoire de l'Université du Queen’s.
Il a joué en NHL et une saison en Suède. Il arrêta de jouer en 1976/77.
Devenu professeur d'histoire à l'Université Brandon du Manitoba.
50 points (18+32) en 199 parties de saison régulière dans la NHL.
