First played organized hockey as an 11-year old for Zagłębie Sosnowiec.
Made his league debut in 1981. Made his national team debut in a game against Norway 1984.
Represented Poland 61 times (19 goals). Admired the play of Sergei Makarov.
Morawiecki was a small player who tested positive for elevated levels of testosterone in the 1988 Olympics (vs France) and was banned from the tournament.
According to his federation, the substance had been introduced in his borscht during a party in Bytom.
The following season he once again tested for testosterone in the Polish league and received a lifetime ban.
The ban was lifted after two years. He played one year in Sweden for Olofströms IK (1992/93) and three years in France for Caen (from 1993 to 1996).
Retired as a player in 2004 and became a hockey coach.
During his playing days he worked as a mechanic.

Il a commencé le hockey à 11 ans pour le Zagłębie Sosnowiec.
Il fit ses débuts en championnat en 1981. Son premier match en sélection était contre la Norvège en 1984.
61 sélections avec la Pologne (19 buts). Il admirait le jeu de Sergei Makarov.
Morawiecki était petit et fut testé positif avec un taux trop élevé de testostérone durant les Jeux de 1988 (contre la France), il fut banni du tournoi.
Selon la défense officielle de sa fédération, on aurait introduit la substance à son insu dans son bortsch lors d'une soirée à Bytom.
La saison suivante, un mois après avoir rejoué pour la Pologne au tournoi du Mont-Blanc, il fut de nouveau contrôlé positif à la testostérone.
Il fut suspendu à vie, mais la peine fut levée au bout de deux ans.
Il a alors joué une saison en Suède à Olofström (1992/93) puis trois ans en France pour Caen jusqu'en 1996.
Retraité en 2004, il est devenu entraîneur de hockey, notamment des équipes nationales juniors de Pologne.
Mécanicien de métier quand il était joueur.
