After WW II his father supervised the local hockey rink in Kitzbühel.
He initially wanted to be a skier, foremost because his father Rudi (1897-1966) was a legendary ski intructor in Kitzbühel.
Small and quick center who was a valuable part of the Austrian national team.
He played for Kitzbüheler EC between 1952 and 1960 before switching to KAC.
In 1959 at the Pool B World Championships he was the top scorer and MVP.
At the 1957 World Championships he scored the only Austrian goal against the Soviets.
He represented Austria 35 times. He was an automechanic by trade.
In Klagenfurt he worked 29 years as a sales manager for a car dealership.

Il se destinait au départ à devenir skieur car son père Rudi (1897-1966) était un célèbre instructeur de ski à Kitzbühel.
Mais après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, son père est aussi devenu le directeur de la patinoire de hockey de Kitzbühel.
Centre petit et rapide qui était un rouage important de la sélection autrichienne.
Il a joué pour le Kitzbüheler EC entre 1952 et 1960 avant de partir au KAC.
En 1959 il fut meilleur joueur et meilleur buteur du Mondial B.
Lors des Mondiaux 1957, il avait marqué le seul but autrichien contre l'URSS.
35 sélections en équipe d'Autriche. Il était mécanicien automobile de formation.
À Klagenfurt il a travaillé 29 ans comme directeur des ventes chez un concessionnaire.
