Was of Finnish decent and had previously been a great amateur boxer who reached the Dominion welter and middleweight finals or semi-finals in three consecutive years.
In 1936 he got to play at the Olympics with Canada. As a substitute player he had to fill in for the injured Pud Kitchen.
In the last game vs USA he lost several teeth after a tussle while defending his goal.
He was pretty short and stocky and used his weight effectively.
He left Port Arthur at the end of 1936 and moved to Kirkland Lake, playing hockey with the Kirkland Lake Shore Blue Devils. There he played in front of goalie great Bill Durnan, winning the Allan Cup in 1940.
A separated shoulder then pretty much ended his playing career.
Aside from playing hockey, his good physique allowed him to work at the local mines.
Later worked as an explosives plant manager and a technical salesman.

Ce joueur d'origine finlandaise fut d'abord un grand boxeur amateur qui a atteint les demi-finales ou finales en poids walter et moyens trois anns de suite.
En 1936 il prit part aux Jeux Olympiques avec le Canada. Défenseur remplaçant, il pallia la blessure de Pud Kitchen.
Lors du dernier match contre les États-Unis il a perdu plusieurs dents après une bagarre alors qu'il défendait sa cage.
Il était plutôt petit mais fort et trapu, il utilisait son physique efficacement.
Il a quitté Port Arthur fin 1936 pour Kirkland Lake, jouant pour les Kirkland Lake Shore Blue Devils aux côtés du légendaire gardien Bill Durnan et gagnant la coupe Allan en 1940.
Une blessure à l'épaule écourta sa carrière.
En marge du hockey, son bon physique lui a permis de travailler dans les mines locales.
Il travailla ensuite comme directeur d'une usine d'explosifs et comme technico-commercial.
