His father hailed from New Hampshire and his mother from Massachusetts.
Played both hockey and baseball. Earned a B.S. in History and Government from Boston College where he played from 1957 to 1957.
Invited to play in the 1964 Olympics, but due to family, coaching and teaching duties at Brown University he declined the invitation.
Named as the assistant coach at Brown University and on the physical education staff in 1961.
Was a GIS officer in the Center for Army Analysis and worked as a manufacturer.
Played a lot of tennis in later years.
His son Richard Michaud II (d.2007) died from complications of diabetes and his grandson Richard Michaud III (d.2005), known under his rapper name Tre’ Stylez was shot to death.

Son père venait du New Hampshire et sa mère du Massachusetts.
Il jouait au hockey et au baseball. Diplômé en Histoire et en Politique au Boston College où il a joué de 1954 à 1957.
Il fut invité à participer aux Jeux olympiques 1964, mais pour des raisons familiales et professionnelles il déclina l'invitation.
Il avait en effet été nommé assistant coach et enseignant en éducation physique depuis 1961 au sein de l'Université Brown.
Il fut un officier en Systèmes d'Information Géographique au sein du Center for Army Analysis (Centre d'Analyse des Armées) et a travaillé comme fabricant.
Il jouait beaucoup au tennis dans ses dernières années.
Son fils Richard Michaud II est décédé en 2007 de complications du diabète et son petit-fils Richard Michaud III, connu sous son nom de rappeur Tre’ Stylez, a été assassiné en 2005.
