Father of Tommy Marthinsen.
First emerged as a talented junior for Lambertseter in 1968/69 when he won the junior championships.
Won ten league titles in Norway. Played 509 league games for Vålerenga IF. Good winning mentality.
Represented Norway 114 times, which was a record at the time of his retirement from the national team in November 1996.
In 2007, he participated in TV 2's entertainment program Isdans (Icedance), where he demonstrated his skating skills along with Kaja Hanevold.
In 2010 he joined the NRK series Mesternes Mester (Champion of the Champions).

En 2007, il participa à l'émission Isdans ("Danse sur Glace") sur la chaîne TV 2, montrant ses talents de patineur aux côtés de Kaja Hanevold.
En 2010 il rejoint la série de télé-réalité de la chaîne NRK Mesternes Mester (le Champion des Champions).
