Son of Italian born parents who came to North America a few years before he was born.
He grew up on Letcher Street in Sault Ste Marie and played hockey there.
Maniacco came to Italy in the mid 1950s together with several other Italo-Canadians in order to strengthen the Italian national team for the 1956 Olympics.
Together with Carmine Tucci who also came over, Maniacco won the 1952 All Ontario Juvenile Champs with the Soo Rapids.
In civilian life he worked as a Algoma Steel tube mill worker.

Né de parents italiens qui s'implantèrent en Amérique du Nord peu de temps avant sa naissance.
Il a grandi sur Letcher Street à Sault Ste Marie où il pratiquait le hockey.
Maniacco arriva en Italie au milieu des années 1950 en même temps que d'autres Italo-Canadiens afin de renforcer l'équipe nationale en vue des JO de Cortina.
Avec Carmine Tucci, Maniacco avait avant cela remporté le championnat "juvenile" de l'Ontario en 1952 avec les Soo Rapids.
Dans la vie il travaillait dans une usine de tubes d'acier d'Algoma.
