Maj, Bogusław ("Bobby")

During a tournament in West Germany in November 1981 he first started to plan for a defection from Poland.
Eventually defected from Poland during the 1982 Pool B World Championships.
Together with his teammates Justin Denisiuk and Andrzej Małysiak they seeked asylum in Vienna and eventually settled down in West Germany where they continued their playing careers.
Maj played for Podhale Nowy Targ in Poland and then spent more than a decade playing in Germany.
Scored 277 points (121 goals and 156 assists) in 329 Bundesliga games. Retired in 1997.
Some sources have him born in Jelenia Góra.

Il commença à planifier sa défection à l'Ouest lors d'un tournoi en RFA en novembre 1981.
Il finit par déserter la Pologne à l'occasion des Mondiaux B de 1982.
Avec ses coéquipiers Justin Denisiuk et Andrzej Małysiak, ils ont demandèrent l'asile à Vienne et s'établirent finalement en Allemagne de l'Ouest où ils poursuivirent leur carrière.
Après deux ans de suspension officielle, Maj joua huit ans en Bundesliga puis quatre en division inférieure.
277 points marqués (121 buts et 156 assists) en 329 parties de Bundesliga. Retraité en 1997.
Certaines sources le disent né à Jelenia Góra.
