Born and grew up in Cernăuţi, in the Bukovina region. Then it was part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire with a majority of the population speaking German.
It later became part of Romania and is today a part of Ukraine.
Cernăuţi was dubbed "Little Vienna" back then and had three ice rinks, as well as several hockey teams in the 1930s.
The main rink was Der Primariaplatz (in Volksgarten) that had a capacity of 1000.
The second one was Vasile Alexandri and number three was Der Eisplatz Polonia-Maccabi (near Gruberplatz).
Emil grew up being a hungry, curious and talented goaltender.
He was a good athlete and had once been the 110 m and 400 m hurdles champion in Romania. Also a very good football player.
It was said that he was killed in a Russian concentration camp during WW II in 1945, but that was an incorrect statement as he tended goal in Austria for Gmunden during the 1945/46 season.
Sometimes spelled "Maiesciuc" or "Maiescuc".

Il a grandi à Cernăuţi, en Bucovine, alors dans l'Empire austro-hongrois avec une population majoritairement germanophone.
Elle est devenu ensuitee une partie de la Roumanie, et aujourd'hui de l'Ukraine.
Cernăuţi est surnommé "la petite Vienne" et comptait trois patinoires et plusieurs clubs de hockey dans les années 1930.
La patinoire principale était Der Primariaplatz d'une capacité de 1 000 places.
Il y avait aussi le Vasile Alexandri et Der Eisplatz Polonia-Maccabi (près de la Gruberplatz).
Emil s'est formé comme un gardien plein d'envie, curieux et talentueux.
Un bon athlète qui fut champion en Roumanie sur 110 mètres et 400 mètres haies. Ce fut aussi un très bon footballeur.
On a dit qu'il avait été tué dans un camp de concentration russe en 1945, mais cette allégation est fausse puisqu'il a été le gardien de Gmunden (Autriche) en 1945/46.
Son nom était parfois écrit "Maiesciuc" ou "Maiescuc".
