Speedy winger who played in Prague and the Slovak capital of Bratislava.
In early years he had a tendency to lose the puck when he held on to it too long.
He developed rapidly and had good body control, making subtle dekes, enabling him to create scoring chances on his own.
Effective skating technique.
In late November 1947, the communists issued a warrant for his arrest. He emigrated shortly therafter.
Lived a few months in Virginia, then moved to Maryland for a few years, and then to Cicero, Illinois in the early 1950s.
Was the vice president of a Chicago group called the European Research Club, encouraging Eastern European expats to band together and fight communism.
Became a U.S. citizen in early 1956. Worked as a machinist.
His two daughters were still behind in Czechoslovakia and he tried to get them out of the country for several years.
He was even imprisoned for a few days in 1959 when one of the attempts failed.
In 1962 he and his wife were found guilty in USA of fraud for haven taken money in order to help other fellow Czech émigrés getting their relatives out of the country.
They were sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay back their accusers.
Represented Czechoslovakia 16 times, scoring three goals.

Ailier rapide qui a joué à Prague et dans la capitale slovaque où il devint entraîneur-joueur du ŠK Bratislava en 1943.
Dans les premières années il avait une tendance à perdre le palet quand il le tenait trop longtemps.
Il se développa rapidement et avec un bon contrôle du corps et une technique de patinage efficace.
Ses feintes subtiles lui permettaient de se procurer des occasions de but.
Fin novembre 1947, les autorités communistes émirent un mandat d'arrêt contre lui. Il émigra donc peu de temps après.
Il vécut quelques mois en Virginie, puis quelques années dans le Maryland, et arriva à Cicero (Illinois) au début des années 1950.
À Chicago il fut vice-président d'un groupe de Chicago appelé European Research Club, qui encourageit les expatriés d'Europe de l'Est à s'unir et à lutter contre le communisme.
Il devint citoyen américain en début d'année 1956. Machiniste de profession.
Ses deux filles étaient toujours en Tchécoslovaquie et il essaya pendant plusieurs années de les faire sortir du pays.
Il fut même emprisonné quelques jours en 1959 suite à une tentative infructueuse.
En 1962 sa femme et lui furent déclarés coupables de fraude aux États-Unis pour avoir pris de l'argent destiné à aider d'autres émigrés tchécoslovaques à faire sortir leur famille du pays.
Ils furent condamnés à cinq ans avec sursis et au remboursement des sommes.
16 sélections en équipe de Tchécoslovaquie, auteur de trois buts.
