Born in Hauho but moved with his family to Hämeenlinna in the late 1940s.
Positionally good and not afraid to play physical hockey. Also used as a forward.
Played for teams like HJK, RPL, HIFK, K-Kissat, Lahden Reipas and Titaanit.
Had discussion with Scotty Bowman to come over to the NHL and enter the St.Louis Blues training camp before the 1967/68 season.
He married that summer, ending his plans. Instead he jumped on the opportunity to play summer hockey in Cortina, Italy.
He returned the following summer to Cortina and played there under a taken Italian name. His Finnish teammate Jaakko Marttinen played as “Martinelli”.
At the same time Lindegren also spent seven seasons playing in Sweden between 1965-73.
Eventually retired in 1975 to become coach and made a two-year comeback as a player coach in 1978, finally retiring in 1980.
Became a sports journalist and a popular hockey analyst on TV.
Commented other sports too and sometimes spoke about "ice" (field) or "puck" (ball) in the heat of the action during a football game.
Worth noting is that he organized the 50th anniversary of the Ice Hockey Association in 1979.
In the 1982 at the World Championships in Helsinki, he was responsible for the tournament marketing and organizing the international press conferences.

Né à Hauho, il déménagea avec sa famille à Hämeenlinna à la fin des années 1940.
Il se plaçait bien et n'hésitait jamais à pratiquer un hockey physique. Parfois utilisé en attaque.
Il joua en élite pour trois clubs de Helsinki (HJK, HIFK et K-Kissat), et en division inférieure pour RPL (Riihimäki) et Reipas (Lahti).
Il eut des échanges avec Scotty Bowman pour venir en NHL et participer à un camp d'entraînement des Blues de St.Louis avant la saison 1967/68.
Son mariage cet été-là a annulé ces plans. Au lieu de ça, il saisit l'opportunité de jouer l'été à Cortina, en Italie.
Il y retourna l'été suivant et joua sous un nom d'emprunt italien. Son coéquipier finlandais Jaakko Marttinen fit de même sous le nom de "Martinelli".
Lindegren joua aussi sept saisons en Suède en 1965/66 (Rögle), 1966/67 (AIK) et de 1968/69 à 1972/73 (Traneberg et Malmö).
Il prit sa retraite en 1975 et devint entraîneur, avant de rechausser les patins comme entraîneur-joueur de Titaanit de 1978 à 1980.
Il devint journaliste sportif et un consultant populaire à la télévision.
Il commentait également d'autres sports et lâchait parfois le mot "palet" (pour ballon) ou "glace" (pour terrain) dans le feu de l'action d'un match de football.
Il organisa le 50e anniversaire de la fédération de hockey sur glace en 1979.
En 1982 à l'occasion des Mondiaux joués à Helsinki, il était responsable marketing du tournoi et en charge d'organiser les conférences de presse.
