His brother Bryan also played in the NHL. Slick playmaker and a smooth skater.
Strong forechecker and a dangerous penalty killer.
His exciting playing style made him a fan favourite during his years in St. Louis.
He earned the nickname „The breakaway kid“.
As a youngster he was also a promising baseball player.
Lefley once (1975/76) managed to score 43 goals and 85 points in one NHL-season.
In 1977 he retired and left the NHL, but signed a contract in Finland a few months later.
After a second season of hockey in Europe (West Germany), Lefley returned to the NHL.
He eventually retired during the 1980/81 season.
Went on to work as a minor league coach in Manitoba.
Other than that he devoted himself full-time to his farm, with cattle and grain.
