His hockey idol growing up was Steve Yzerman and Detroit Red Wings was his favorite team.
Was highly regarded as a junior and was drafted first overall in the NHL 1998.
Tremendous reach, excellent vision and creativity, as well as a deadly shot.
Good skater for a player of his size. Good hand/eye coordination and a winning attitude.
Somewhat physical and a willing combatant. Prolonged scoring funks from time to time.
Considered Wendel Clark to be the toughest competitor that he ever played against.
In 2007 he won the Rocket Richard Trophy as the best goalscorer in the NHL.
Announced his retirement on June 21, 2016.
Lecavalier had his number 4 jersey retired by Tampa Bay Lightning in 2018.

Grandement scruté en junior, il fut premier choix de draft NHL en 1998.
Une allonge énorme, excellentes vision et créativité, ainsi qu'un lancer ravageur.
Bon patineur pour un joueur de sa taille. Bonne coordination oeil/main et une mentalité de gagnant.
Plutôt physique et prêt à la bataille. Petite "appréhension à scorer" de temps en temps.
Il considérait Wendel Clark comme l'adversaire le plus rude qu'il ait eu à affronter.
En 2007 il souleva le trophée Rocket Richard du meilleur buteur de la NHL.
Il prit sa retraite le 21 juin 2016.
Le numéro 4 de Lecavalier fut retiré par le Lightning de Tampa Bay en 2018.
