Born just south of Brno in Přísnotice. Represented Czechoslovakia 44 times.
Goaltender with fast reflexes who liked to show off. His crowdpleasing style made him a fan favourite.
Came to Germany late in 1989 and played his last 12 seasons in there where he retired at 43 in 2001.
Nicknamed “Hexer” in Germany (Witch).
Came out to play 49 seconds in 2007 as a 46 year old.
His jersey is retired in both Brno and Krefeld.
Settled down in Germany with his German wife. His children are also German speaking.
Coached hockey in Duisburg for a while. Worked at a sports marketing firm in Düsseldorf.

Né à Přísnotice, au sud de Brno. 44 sélections avec la Tchécoslovaquie.
Gardien avec des réflexes rapides qui aimait impressionner la foule. Son jeu spectaculaire en fit un chouchou du public.
Il arriva en Allemagne en 1989 et y passa 12 saisons, surnommé “Hexer” ("Le sorcier" en allemand).
À sa retraite à 43 ans en 2001, son jubilé se joua dans une patinoire de Krefeld pleine.
Il fit un retour de 49 secondes de jeu en 2007, à l'âge de 46 ans.
Son numéro a été retiré à la fois à Brno et à Krefeld.
Il s'installa en Allemagne avec son épouse allemande. Ses enfants sont bilingues.
Un temps entraîneur de hockey à Duisbourg, il travailla dans une entreprise de marketing sportif à Düsseldorf.
