Cousin of Thomas Steen. Began skating at the age of three and got his hockey start in Grums IK.
Excellent skater with catlike skating, also had good hands and strong balance.
Above average backchecker. Formed a dangerous line in Leksand with Mats Åhlberg and Dan Söderström.
Played alongside Vaclav Nedomansky during his best NHL season, calling Nedomansky the best linemate he ever had. Retired in 1988.
Also a good skiier. Coached briefly after his playing career. Went on to become an NHL scout.

Cousin de Thomas Steen. Il patina pour la première fois à trois ans et débuta le hockey pour le Grums IK.
Excellent patineur dans un style "félin", avec de bonnes mains et un équilibre solide.
Très bon au repli défensif. À Leksand il formait une ligne dangereuse avec Mats Ahlberg et Dan Söderström.
Il passa sa meilleure saison NHL aux côtés de Vaclav Nedomansky, qu'il considéra comme le meilleur compagnon de ligne de sa carrière.
Il était également bon skieur. Entraîna brièvement après la fin de sa carrière de joueur en 1988. Il devint ensuite recruteur NHL.
144 points (71 + 73) en 268 parties de saison régulière de NHL.
