Son of Polish parents as the family changed its last name from Konarski to Konroyd. An unspectacular but positionally sound defenseman. Never tried to complicate things and always played within his own limits. He played well in both ends of the ice. Very good at clearing traffic in front of the net.
Retired in 1995. Scored 441 (98+343) career points in 1282 games. Worked as a co-host of intermission and post-game segments on WGN-TV and NBC Sports Chicago broadcasts of Chicago Blackhawks' games.

Né de parents polonais qui, à leur arrivée au Canada, modifièrent leur nom de famille (Konarski) en Konroyd. Leur fils Steve devint un défenseur défensif ou blueliner, au choix grâce à son excellent positionnement, et qui en tout cas n'en faisait jamais trop. Conscient de ses limites, il s'appliquait surtout à nettoyer son enclave.
Joue jusqu'en 1995 et stoppe sur 441 points (98+343) en 1282 matches officiels. Devenu présentateur télé lors des retransmissions sur WGN-TV et NBC Chicago des matches des Blackhawks, une franchise qu'il a représentée trois ans (1989-92).
