Played both as a forward and defenseman. Fair and tactically shrewd player who played with poise. Was a good stickhandler and technically skilled player.
Moved to Germany after WW II where he was known as Erich Konecki. In Germany he played for HC Augsburg (1945-48) before coming to Krefeld. There he became German champion with KTSV Preussen (1951) and KEV (1952).
In 1955 he coached Germany B team which won - out of contest - B-Pool World Championships.
Later was a playing coach for Mannheimer ERC. Finished his career in Dortmund and retired in 1961 at 41 to become a full-time coach during fourteen more years.
Inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.

Défenseur ou attaquant, ce joueur instruit tactiquement ne manquait ni d'élégance, ni de caractère. Il se distinguait par sa maîtrise du palet et sa technique.
Parti en Allemagne après la Seconde Guerre mondiale où on le connaît en tant qu'Erich Konecki. Là-bas, il joue pour Augsbourg (entre 1945 et 1948) avant de rejoindre Krefeld, où il devient champion d'Allemagne avec les Preussen (1951) puis avec le KEV (1952).
En 1955 il entraîne l'équipe d'Allemagne B qui participe hors compétition au Mondial B et le gagne.
Il devient ensuite entraîneur-joueur de Mannheim, qu'il fait monter en deuxième division, et de Dortmund, où il arrête sa carrière en 1961 à 41 ans pour devenir entraîneur à plein temps pendant quatorze années supplémentaires.
Introduit au "Hall of Fame Deutschland" en 2005.
