Father of František Jr. and Tomáš. Grew up in Velká Dobrá, a little village about 5km from Kladno. His idol growing up was František Pospišil.
Unspectacular but very steady blueliner. Made few mistakes and was always good at adapting his play accordingly to his opponents. Good puck transporter. Six time league champion, five of those times with TJ SONP Kladno. In 1977 he won the league, World Championship and European club championship titles. Represented Czechoslovakia 107 times (9 goals). Retired in 1985.
Inducted into the Czech Hockey Hall of Fame.

C'est le papa des célèbres František Jr. et Tomáš Kaberle. Lui-même a grandi à Velká Dobrá, petit village situé à cinq kilomètres de Kladno. Grand fan de František Pospišil.
Défenseur sérieux et régulier. Commettait peu d'erreurs et savait adapter son jeu aux adversaires. Excellent contre-attaquant grâce à sa maîtrise du puck.
Six fois champion de Tchécoslovaquie, cinq fois avec le TJ SONP Kladno. En 1977, il enquilla même le triplé championnat-coupe d'Europe (avec Kladno) et championnat du monde (avec la Tchécoslovaquie naturellement).
107 sélections nationales, neuf buts. Arrête en 1985.
