Talented offensive center with good versatility as he also could play on both wings. Was first player drafted in first round of NHL draft prior to senior year of high school. Played right wing on the "Diaper Line" with Pat LaFontaine and Ed Olczyk for Team USA in 1983/84. In the NHL he was put on a line alongside future Hall of Famer Ron Francis.
Had many injuries that slowed him down during his career, including a back, knee and shoulder injuries. Scored 385 (175+210) career points in 399 games. Retired in 1992.

Centre offensif doué techniquement, qui pouvait se transporter à l'aile. Fut le tout premier joueur de l'histoire à être drafté au premier tour avant même sa dernière année d'université. Ailier droit de la "Diaper Line" (ligne couches-culottes) qu'il composait avec Pat LaFontaine et Ed Olczyk au sein de l'équipe olympique américaine des JO 1984. Associé à Ron Francis lors de son court passage par la NHL.
Trop souvent blessé (dos, genou, épaule) pour faire une carrière solide. 385 points en 399 matches, retraité à 27 ans seulement.
22 points marqués (9+13) en 69 parties de saison régulière de NHL.
