Jaks, Peter ("Jaksi")

Position : RW

04-05-1966 Frydek-Mistek, TCH
05-10-2011 Bari, ITA

Youth team / club formateur : HC Ascona

Older brother of Pauli Jaks. Born in Czechoslovakia but emigrated to Switzerland with his parents when he was a little child and grew up in Schaffhausen. Creative and skilled forward who didn’t concentrate too much on defense. Pretty slow skater but had an accurate shot. Not the best conditioned athlete when it came to weight and overall fitness, but he made up for that with great hockey sense.
Represented Switzerland 146 times, scoring 89 points (45+44). Three-time Swiss league champion with Lugano (1988) and Zurich (2000 et 2001).
His 612 points, 338 goals and 41 game-winning goals for Ambrì-Piotta are all club records.
Retired in 2003 and became a general manager for Ambrì until 2009. Then he became a TV hockey expert.
Found dead beside railway tracks in Bari, apparently having committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. His number 19 jersey was retired by Ambri-Piotta.
