Born in Norway, Maine but spent the first two years of his life in Hebron (Palestine territory) while his father taught science there.
Raised on a farm three miles west of Birchdale, Minnesota.
Worked on the farm while growing up, learning the necessary work ethic that helped him later on when playing ice hockey.
Attended Indus High School and Athol Murray College.
Was a standout defenseman for the University of Maine where he was named USA Hockey’s “player of the year” in 1995 and was runner-up for the Hobey Baker Award.
Had good hands and great sense with the puck. Was an efficient skater. Not flashy but quick.
Extremely coachable player and very intelligent on the ice.
Selected by Florida Panthers in the 1993 NHL Supplemental Draft.
Scored 258 (74+184) career points in 415 games. Retired in 2001.
Worked as a head coach and assistant ice hockey coach.
Ran STAR clinic in the Chicago area as a skills coach.

Il travailla dans cette ferme durant sa jeunesse, ce qui lui enseigna une éthique de travail qui lui fut ensuite bien utile dans sa carrière de hockeyeur.
Il étudia au lycée Indus et au Athol Murray College.
Il était un défenseur remarquable de l'Université du Maine où il fut désigné "joueur de l'année" 1995 par USA Hockey et fut dauphin du trophée Hobey Baker.
Il possédait de bonnes mains et un excellent sens du jeu avec le palet. Patineur efficace, pas spectaculaire mais rapide.
Joueur très facile à coacher et très intelligent sur la glace.
Sélectionné par les Panthers de Floride lors de la Draft supplémentaire NHL de 1993.
Auteur de 258 points en carrière (74+184) pour 415 matchs. Retraité en 2001.
Il travailla comme entraîneur en chef et assistant coach.
Il géra les cours de hockey "STAR" dans la banlieue de Chicago, en tant qu'entraîneur spécialisé dans les aspects techniques.
