His father Jochen Hördler, a former international (25 games for East Germany), left Weißwasser after German reunification.
He spent six years in Selb, and his sons David and Frank joined him in the roster.
Frank actually started icehockey at 4 when he was in kindergarten, but political change stopped this youth sport program.
He re-started ice hockey at 6 in Selb and considered this town his home.
Frank played with U18 national team, then joined the Eisbären Berlin and spent his career there.
Nine-time German champion (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2021) and 2022 as final MVP), a DEL record.
Solid all-around defenseman with above average offensive qualities. Good on-ice vision.
Not easily fazed, often calm under pressure. Decent skater with a solid shot.
Physically ok, and not afraid of throwing his body around.
124 games with German national team. Olympic silver medalist 2018.
In 2022/23 he played in the same team as his son Eric with the Eisbären Berlin.

Son père Jochen Hördler, ancien international est-allemand (25 sélections), a quitté Weißwasser à 32 ans après la réunification allemande.
Il a passé six ans au ERC Selb, où ses fils David et Frank l'ont rejoint dans l'équipe.
Frank a commencé le hockey à Weißwasser à 4 ans quand il était en maternelle, avant que la chute des structures sportives d'Allemagne ne le permette plus.
Il a recommencé le hockey à 6 ans à Selb et considère cette ville comme chez lui.
International des moins de 18 ans, il rejoignit les Eisbären Berlin avec lesquels il a passé toute sa carrière.
Huit fois champion d'Allemagne (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2021) et 2022 en tant que meilleur joueur de la finale), un record depuis la création de la DEL.
Défenseur solide en tout point avec des qualités offensives supérieures à la moyenne. Bonne vision du jeu.
Pas facilement intimidé, toujours calme sous la pression. Patineur correct avec un tir solide.
Physiquement solide, il n’a pas peur de jeter son corps dans la bataille.
124 sélections en équipe d'Allemagne. Médaillé d'argent olympique 2018.
En 2022/23 il a joué dans la même équipe que son fils Eric au sein des Eisbären de Berlin.
