Played under his birth name Yoshiaki Kyoya at the 1976 Olympics before adopting his wife’s name (Honda) in 1978.
Opportunistic goalscorer. He was rather small like most of the Japanese players, but compensated that with swift skating and good hands.
Had a really good season in 1977 as he was the third highest goalscorer in the Japanese league (15), finishing only behind Soviet legend Vyacheslav Starshinov and Japanese-Canadian Osamu Wakabayashi.
Retired in 1983 after having scored at almost a point-per-game pace and more than 150 league points in his career (entirely spent with Oji).

Il a joué sous son nom de naissance Yoshiaki Kyoka aux JO de 1976 avant d’adopter le nom de sa femme (Honda) en 1978.
Buteur opportuniste. Assez petit (170 cm) comme la plupart des hockeyeurs japonais, il compensait par un patinage vif et de bonnes mains.
Très bonne saison en 1977 où il fut le troisième meilleur buteur du championnat japonais (15 buts), finissant derrière la légende soviétique Vyacheslav Starshinov et le Canado-Japonais Osamu Wakabayashi.
Retraité en 1983 après avoir marqué près d'un point par match (plus de 150 points au total) dans une carrière de championnat entièrement passée avec Oji.
