His father Bent Hansen, a four-time Danish ice hockey champion with Rødovre, first put him on the ice when he was in diapers as a 2-year-old.
He also played football until the age of 10 and won a district championship with Rødovre Boldklub.
Allround forward with good skating and speed. Good at reading the game well.
Fine puck control and a quick wrist shot. Defensively aware and often used to kill penalties.
Above average playmaking ability from the wing position.
Equally effective on either wing position, but primarily a right winger.
Tendency to pass up too many quality shots in order to distribute the puck.
Below average strength in younger years and was easily bumped off in the corners.
Met his wife Karen when he played in Winnipeg for the Manitoba Moose (AHL).
Stanley Cup finalist in 2011 with Vancouver. Won Gagarin Cup with CSKA Moscow in 2019 but wasn't dressed during the final.
Announced his retirement from hockey on April 25, 2019.
Went on living in Canada with his wife and his three children (two twin boys and a daughter).

Son père Bent Hansen, quadruple chaampion du Danemark de hockey sur glace avec Rødovre, l'a posé sur la glace pour la première fois à 2 ans alors qu'il portait des couches.
Il a aussi joué au football jusqu'à 10 ans et a remporté un championnat régional avec le Rødovre Boldklub.
Attaquant complet avec un bon patinage et de la vitesse. Bonne lecture du jeu.
Bon contrôle du palet et tir du poignet rapide. Conscient défensivement et souvent utilisé en infériorité numérique.
Capacité à créer du jeu au-dessus de la moyenne pour un ailier.
Aussi efficace à chaque aile, mais ailier droit à l'origine.
Tendance à laisser passer trop de tirs de qualité pour distribuer le palet.
Moins fort que la moyenne dans sa jeunesse, il se faisait aisément écarter dans les coins.
Il a rencontré sa femme Karen quand il jouait à Winnipeg pour les Manitoba Moose (AHL).
Finaliste de la Coupe Stanley en 2011 avec Vancouver. Vainqueur de la Coupe Gagarine avec le CSKA Moscou en 2019 mais sans être titulaire en finale.
Il a annoncé sa retraite du hockey sur glace le 25 avril 2019.
Il est allé vivre au Canada avec sa femme et ses trois enfants (deux garçons jumeaux et une fille).
