Born and raised in Edmonton, AB. Before earning a spot with the Edmonton Mercurys, he played for Edmonton E.A.C. and Edmonton Canadians 1943/44.
He basically had retired at the start of the 1947/48 season, although playing sporadically in the Edmonton City Intermediate B League with Cloverdale.
A year later he guarded the nets for Camrose Maroons.
Played with # 0 at the 1952 Olympics. Retired after the tournament.
A natural athlete who also was an excellent shortstop in baseball, good curler and golfer.
Served as a Firefighter for the City of Edmonton Fire Department between 1949 and 1984.
His son Randy also became a goaltender and was drafted in the NHL by Detroit Red Wings.
Died of pneumonia in Edmonton, AB at the Allen Gray and Grey Nuns Hospital.

Il est né et a grandi à Edmonton. Avant de gagner sa place au sein des Edmonton Mercurys, il avait joué pour l'Edmonton E.A.C. et les Edmonton Canadians en 1943/44.
Il avait pour ainsi dire pris sa retraite au début de la saison 1947/48, même s'il jouait sporadiquement dans la Edmonton City Intermediate B League avec Cloverdale.
Un an plus tard il était de retour en gardant les cages des Camrose Maroons.
Il a joué avec le numéro 0 aux Jeux olympiques 1952. Il a raccroché definitivement les patins après le tournoi.
Un athlète naturel qui était aussi un excellent bloqueur au baseball et était bon au curling et au golf.
Il était pompier au sein de la ville d'Edmonton entre 1949 et 1984.
Son fils Randy est aussi devenu gardien et a été drafté en NHL par les Detroit Red Wings.
Il est mort d'une pneumonie à Edmonton, au Allen Gray and Grey Nuns Hospital.
