Good standup goaltender who was especially good on close range shots where he could use his quick reflexes to his advantage.
Covered the lower parts of the goal well, and was hard to beat along the ice.
Played for his hometown Kiruna AIF in the lower divisions for several seasons in the 1950s, before coming to Skellefteå AIK for five seasons.
Returned back to Kiruna for two seasons before finishing his playing career in Clemensnäs, retiring in 1973.
Had a sensational tournament in 1962 when Sweden captured the World Championship gold medal. Was voted as the best goaltender of the tournament and made the All-Star team. It also prompted Boston Bruins (NHL) to put him on their negotiation list.
Represented Sweden 65 times. Had a hard time to cope with popularity after his heroics in 1962 and started to drink a lot, although the alcohol prematurely ended his career, he did recover in later years and openly talked about his alcohol addiction.
Became an ice hockey coach. Was a welder by trade and later sold welding machines and tools.
Some sources have him born in Övertårneå, but his passport said Kiruna.

Il couvrait bien le bas de la cage et était difficile à battre ras glace.
Il a joué chez lui au Kiruna AIF dans les divisions inférieures pendant plusieurs saisons avant de partir en 1961 à Skellefteå pour cinq ans.
Il est retourné à Kiruna pour deux saisons avant de finir sa carrière à Clemensnäs, prenant sa retraite en 1973.
Il a connu un tournoi sensationnel en 1962 quand la Suède est devenue championne du monde. Il a été élu meilleur gardien du tournoi et intégré l'équipe-type. Cela a aussi conduit les Boston Bruins (NHL) à le placer sur leur liste de négociation.
65 sélections en équipe de Suède. Il a eu du mal à gérer sa popularité après ses exploits de 1962 et a commencé à boire beaucoup. Même si l'alcool a prématurément mis fin à sa carrière, il s'en est ensuite sorti et a parlé ouvertement de son addiction.
Soudeur de formation, il a ensuite vendu des machines et des outils de soudage. Il a aussi été entraîneur.
Certaines sources le listent comme étant né à Övertårneå, mais son passeport indique Kiruna.
