During WW II Oto Gregorić was a Regiment Lieutenant for the Ljubljana Battery Artillery. He came from a family of famous lineage who had led peasant uprisings and who had defended the Croatian and Slovenian rising against the Turks as well as German conquerors for the past 400 years.
Oto Gregorić was a direct descendant of Ilija Gregorić [c. 1520-1574] a Croatian soldier, best known as the military commander of rebels during the Croatian and Slovenian peasant revolt of 1573. Another descendant, Captain Michael Gregorić, also fought the Turks and later (1650) bought an old aristocratic estate in Dolenja Brezovica near Šentjernej, which gave his family the privilege of nobility.
Oto Gregorić passed away in 1951 while vacationing at the sea and having been stung by an insect.

Oto Gregorić fut lieutenant dans le régiment d'artillerie de Ljubljana pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il ne faisait ainsi que renouveler une tradition familiale vieille de quatre siècles. Parmi ses ancêtres, on trouve des citoyens qui menèrent des révoltes paysannes ou défendirent les peuples croate ou slovène contre les Turcs et les Germains.
Oto Gregorić descendait en effet d'Ilija Gregorić (1520-1574), un soldat croate célèbre pour avoir été le chef militaire des rebelles lors du soulèvement paysan croato-slovène de 1573. Quant au capitaine Michael Gregorić, il combattit les Turcs et acquit en 1650 une propriété à Dolenja Brezovica, près de Šentjernej en Slovénie, ce qui fit des Gregorić une dynastie nobiliaire.
Le pauvre Oto Gregorić eut une mort étrange, puisqu'il trépassa en 1951 (probablement avant ses quarante ans) après avoir été piqué par un insecte pendant des vacances au bord de la mer.
