Calm and positionally sound defenseman. Strong leadership qualities.
Served as a captain on the national team for many years.
Represented Poland 173 times (31 goals). Often paired with Ludwik Czachowski.
Retired in 1980. Worked as a coach in ice hockey (Unia Oświęcim).
Was a taxi passenger when a drunk pedestrian was crossing a street, getting hit by the taxi.
The pedestrian flew through the windshield, his knee hitting Robert in the head, killing him.

Retraité en 1980, devenu entraîneur au Unia Oświęcim.
Était passager d’un taxi quand un piéton ivre traversa la rue, se faisant percuter par le taxi.
Le piéton traversa le pare-brise, son genou frappa Robert en pleine tête et le tua.
