Born in Perth, Scotland and had a Scottish parents.
Came to Canada as a child and grew up in Saskatoon, SK where he learned to play hockey. Smooth player with catlike movements out on the ice.
Scored the overtime goal against Switzerland in the last game that earned Canada the World Championship title in 1937.
Played 257 games and scored 297 (141+156) career points. Retired in 1947.
