Born in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France near Newfoundland, Canada (20km).
Diminutive goaltender with a taciturn personality. Started ice hockey at 6 like his father and his brother.
Studied carpentry and industrial design in Saint-Pierre. Came to Caen in 1981 as a back-up goaltender.
He could barely live with his salary in Caen. He quit the factory job found by the club after only three weeks. He preferred peeling potatoes in the rink's bar in exchange of a meal.
He was selected to play in the French Junior National team but game back from the Netherlands with a broken ankle after he was hit by a car.
He played one year in Nationale B with Anglet before going to Megève. He became French champion and won the Trophée Jean Ferrand as the best goaltender in France.
The atmosphere in the team was bad during his first games with French national team in 1984/85 and he didn't want to play.
He came back in 1986/87 during another great season with Mont-Blanc. He took confidence as he learnt to play the puck. He won a second French title and a second best goltender trophy.
Retired in 1993. He had built a wooden chalet during the summers in his native Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. He also was a youth hockey coach.
His son Andy Foliot was also a hockey goaltender and coach.

Gardien petit mais agile de caractère plutôt solitaire. Il a commencé le hockey à 6 ans, comme son père et son frère.
Il a passé des CAP de menuisier-charpentier et dessinateur industriel à Saint-Pierre avant de partir à Caen grâce à des Saint-Pierrais qui y étudiaient à l'université.
Second gardien, il abandonna le travail en usine trouvé par le club au bout de trois semaines, préférant éplucher des patates au bar de la patinoire en échange d'un repas.
Il fut sélectionné en équipe de France des moins de 20 ans mais revint du Mondial B aux Pays-Bas avec une cheville cassée.
Il a joué une saison en Nationale B avec Anglet avant de rejoindre Megève. Il y devint champion de France et remporta le trophée Jean Ferrand de meilleur gardien.
L'atmosphère en équipe de France était si mauvaise durant ses premières convocations en 1984/85 qu'il déclina sa sélection pour le Mondial C.
Il y revint en 1986/87 durant une nouvelle grande saison avec Mont-Blanc. Ayant pris confiance en apprenant aussi le jeu avec le palet, il signa un nouveau doublé champion - meilleur gardien.
Retraité en 1993. Il avait bâti un chalet de bois de style alpestre durant les étés sur son île de Saint-Pierre.
Il fut également entraîneur de jeunes et cadre technique régional pour la FFHG en métropole.
Son fils Andy Foliot a aussi été gardien de hockey puis entraîneur.
