Was a mainstay on the East German National Team during the 1970s and 80s, representing his country on 250 occasions. Played 418 games in Germany, scoring 171 points. Won 12 league titles with SC Dynamo Berlin. Retired in 1998.
Inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame.

Pierre angulaire (250 sélections) de l'équipe nationale est-allemande dans les années 1970-1980, et du Dynamo Berlin (418 matches, 171 points) avec lequel il a remporté douze titres du championnat de RDA à deux équipes (Berlin et Weisswasser). A représenté après la réunification des clubs d'ex-RDA (Crimmitschau, Chemnitz) avant de prendre sa retraite en 1998.
Introduit au Hall of Fame du hockey allemand.
