Player of a relative small stature. Technically very skilled and a great crowd favorite who got the fans out of their seats when he made his patented offensive rushes. Clever player.
Began playing competitive ice hockey in 1956. He was also a good alpine skier. Played a record 504 Yugoslavian league games, scoring a record 728 points (426+302).
He also played in Switzerland for EHC Olten (1972) and HC Ortisei and AS Asiago, Italy (1974-76) during his playing career.
Represented Yugoslavia 155 times, scoring 173 points (82+91). Played mostly on a line with Franc Smolej and Viktor Tišlar.
Recruited by legendary Scotty Bowman to attend a training camp for St. Louis Blues in September 1968. He picked up an assist in an intrasquad game on September 15.
