Was invited to join the Canadian national team in September 1965 by Father Bauer who wanted someone with fine leadership skills on the team. At the time Faulkner was the manager of a stadium at Grace Harbour, Newfoundland.
He had to seek consent from its officials before making a decision if he could accept the invitation. Spent the majority of his 25 year-long playing career in various Newfoundland leagues. Scored 1206 (504+702) career points in 836 games. Retired in 1975.

Invité en septembre 1965 par Father Bauer, le grand révérend du Team Canada, à rejoindre la feuille d'érable. Bauer tenait à avoir un homme expérimenté comme lui pour guider l'équipe. À l'époque, Faulkner occupait le poste de directeur d'un stade à Grace Harbour, dans son État natal de Terre-Neuve. Il dut demander l'agrément de sa hiérarchie pour pourvoir accepter l'offre.
Passa le gros de sa carrière longue de 25 ans (1950-1975) dans des clubs et ligues semi-pro de Terre-Neuve. 1206 points (504+702) en 836 matches.
