Farelli, Cary
Position : RW
19-06-1957 Pembroke, ON, CAN
Part Native American as he was a one-quarter Algonquin from his mother's side. His grandfather hailed from Italy. Was a highscoring winger as a junior in the OHA. Played on a highscoring line with Jack Valiquette and Charlie Simmer.
Drafted in the NHL by Montreal Canadiens in 1977. His small size kept him out of the NHL. Scored more than 1500 career points in little over 1000 games. Spent more than a decade playing in Italy. Retired in 1993.
Became a very good wood carver. While in Italy, Piero Girardi, a master carver, learned him the tricks. During his six years apprenticing, he was doing architectural works, creating business logos on wooden signs, making tourist trade figurines and carving wooden beams.
