Born in Richmond, ON, a village and former municipality within the city limits of Ottawa.
A Flying Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross as a navigator during World War II.
During the 1948 Olympics he was nicknamed "the blue line masher" for his hard hits.
After his playing career he worked in Ottawa Fire Department.
He retired from the RCAF team in 1955, and the RCAF itself in the mid-1960s, and began working for the sales department of an Ottawa moving company.

Né à Richmond, un village et une ancienne municipalité aujourd'hui incorporée à la ville d'Ottawa.
Flying Officer de la Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), récipiendaire de la Distinguished Flying Cross comme navigateur durant la Seconde Guerre Mondiale.
Au cours des Jeux olympiques 1948 il était surnommé le "broyeur de la ligne bleue" pour ses dures mises en échec.
Après sa carrière de joueur il a travaillé chez les pompiers d'Ottawa.
Retraité de l'équipe de la RCAF en 1955, et de la RCAF elle-même au milieu des années soixante. Il a alors travaillé comme commercial pour une entreprise de déménagement d'Ottawa.
