Excellent stickhandler and shooter. His father was a very wealthy co-owner of a lace factory that had branches in six different countries and made millions of dollars per year.
Harold Duden was born in Brussels, Belgium but moved with his family to London, England, in 1880, before coming to the United States as a child.
He became a US citizen in 1895 and went on to study in New York, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1901 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1903, both from Columbia University. Admitted to the New York bar in 1903 but practiced in London.
Played hockey for Columbia University. Was a versatile athlete who excelled at water polo, track & field, yacht racing, golf, tennis, polo, skiing, figure skating and trapshooting.
He was also a pilot. Harold’s brothers died at a young age in Mexico where they were involved in the mining business. William, also a skilled hockeyist, died of typhus in 1910 and another brother, Frederick was killed by “revolutionaries”.
Harold lived both in Europe and USA, working in land development.
Passed away of acute pulmonary edema at the Providence hospital in El Paso.

Harold Duden est né à Bruxelles, en Belgique, mais a déménagé avec sa famille à Londres en 1880 avant d'arriver aux États-Unis encore enfant.
Il est devenu citoyen américain en 1895 et est allé étudier à New York, obtenant une licence en arts en 1901 et une licence een droit en 1903, à chaque fois de l'université de Columbia. Admis au barreau de New York en 1903, mais il a exercé à Londres.
Il a joué au hockey pour l'université de Columbia. C'était un athlète polyvalent qui excellait au water-polo, en athlétisme, à la voile, au golf, au tennis, au polo, en ski, en patinage artistique et au ball-trap. Il était aussi pilote.
Les frères de Harold sont morts à un jeune âge au Mexique où ils étaient impliqués dans des affaires minières. William, également joueur de hockey talentueux, est mort du typhus en 1910 et l'autre frère Frederick a été tué par les "révolutionnaires".
Harold a vécu à la fois en Europe et aux États-Unis, travaillant dans l'aménagement foncier.
Il est mort d'un œdème pulmonaire aigu à l'hôpital Providence d'El Paso au Texas.
