Canadian of Dutch ethnic descent. Tall winger and a dangerous scorer throughout his career (more than 1000 points).
Excellent skater (like a speedskating champion according to teammates) with good stickhandling and the fastest shot in German Bundesliga during his time.
His Düsseldorf coach Otto Schneitberger said he "could kill a fly out of the air".
Best scorer in his only season in Dutch league (with RAAK The Hague in 1973/74).
Three-time best scorer in Bundesliga, in 1975 and 1977 with Krefeld and 1981 with Düsseldorf.
Played his last German season in 1981/82 with financially depleted - and eventually relegated - Bad Nauheim. In a game before Christmas he pulled his jersey top show the message "No money - no game". The whole team was waiting for their salaries since two months.
Retired in 1984 after two seasons with SC Bern and went to coach Rapperswil. Laced up the skates again in 1987/88 with Grindelwald in 1st league (third level) and coached three other Swiss clubs afterwards.
Ran his own ice hockey academy then worked at various ice hockey clinics as an instructor. Came back to Toronto to live there.

Canadien aux origines néerlandaises. Ailier de grande taille qui a marqué plus de 1000 points en carrière.
Excellent patineur - tel un champion de patinage de vitesse selon ses coéquipiers - avec une bonne technique et surtout le tir le plus rapide de la Bundesliga allemande.
Son entraîneur à Düsseldorf, Otto Schneitberger, disait qu'il "pouvait tuer une mouche en plein vol".
Meilleur marqueur lors de son unique saison dans le championnat des Pays-Bas (avec le RAAK La Haye en 1973/74).
Trois fois meilleur marqueur de la Bundesliga, en 1975 et 1977 avec Krefeld et en 1981 avec Düsseldorf.
Il joua sa dernière saison allemande en 1981/82 à Bad Nauheim, club en difficulté financière : lors d'un match avant Noël, il enleva son maillot pour afficher le message "No money - no game". L'équipe entière attendait ses salaires depuis deux mois.
A pris sa retraite en 1984 après deux saisons avec le CP Berne pour devenir coach de Rapperswil. A rechaussé les patins en 1987/88 pour Grindelwald en 1re ligue (troisième niveau) avant d'entraîner trois autres clubs suisses.
A mené sa propre académie de hockey et travaillé comme instructeur dans de nombreux stages. Rentré vivre à Toronto.
