Small forward who twice won the Albert Hassler Trophy crowning the best French player in the league (1985 and 1989).
French league champion in 1991 with Grenoble before they collapsed financially. Crettenand did not leave the boat : he was building his house in Villard-Bonnot and wanted to stay there with his wife who was waiting for their third child.
Playing in the second tier did not prevent him to be part of the heroic French team that reached the quarter-finals at the 1992 Winter Olympics.
Joined his brother Didier, a goaltender, in Chambéry in 1995 and retired there in 1999 after four seasons in division 2 (third level).
Then he founded a roller hockey club in his hometown Villard-Bonnot. Worked for railway company SNCF.
Scored 257 goals in 445 games in French elite league. Also played football at amateur level.

Petit attaquant deux fois récipiendaire du Prix Albert-Hassler remis au meilleur joueur français de l'année (1985, 1989).
Champion de France 1991 avec Grenoble avant qu'une situation financière précaire ne conduise le club à la liquidation. Crettenand est resté, parce qu'il construisait sa maison à Villard-Bonnot et voulait s'y installer pour de bon avec sa femme qui attendait leur troisième enfant.
Jouer en deuxième division ne l'a pas empêché de faire partie de l'épopée des Bleus à Albertville en 1992.
Il prend sa retraite en 1999 après quatre saisons en division 2 (troisième niveau) à Chambéry, où il avait été appelé par son frère Didier Crettenand, le gardien de l'équipe.
Il suit alors une formation à la SNCF - où il deviendra contrôleur de voies - et crée un club de roller-hockey dans sa ville de résidence de Villard-Bonnot.
Il a marqué 257 buts en 445 matches dans l'élite française. Il jouait aussi au football en amateur.
