Never played in the NHL but used to be the property of Toronto Maple Leafs and then Minnesota North Stars. Got a B.A. from the University of Manitoba in 1967 and a LL.B. from University of Ottawa in 1971.
Cornerstone on Father Bauer's Canadian National Team in the 1960s. Bauer served as a lifelong mentor. Conlin played both as a defenseman and left wing. Retired from ice hockey in the early 1970s.
Later opened his own legal practice in Ottawa, working as a lawyer. Partner at Conlin & Chinkiwsky Barristers & Solicitors from 1973 through 1976, then as senior partner in the Conlin & McAlpin firm.

Ne vit jamais s'ouvrir les portes de la NHL bien que ses droits aient été préemptés par les Maple Leafs puis rachetés par les North Stars. Fit des études à la place. Diplômé en administration des entreprises de l'Université du Manitoba en 1967, il devint ensuite diplômé en droit à Ottawa.
Fut pendant ce temps un ces cadres du Team Canada mené par le Père Bauer pendant les années 60. Le révérend joua auprès de lui le rôle d'un véritable mentor. Conlin pouvait jouer à la fois derrière ou à l'aile gauche.
Arrêta de jouer au hockey avant la trentaine pour s'installer en tant qu'avocat à Ottawa. D'abord à son compte, puis en tant qu'associé du cabinet Conlin & Chinkiwsky Barristers & Solicitors entre 1973 et 1976, enfin en tant que dirigeant du cabinet Conlin & McAlpin.
