He was positionally strong and had fast reflexes. Chinov was technically skilled and handled the puck well for a European goaltender. Good on breakaways.
Emerged as a great talent during his junior years and it was generally believed that the Soviets had a goaltender who would be the next Nikolai Puchkov.
That never happened and he only played in one World Championship tournament.
Played 239 league games. Represented Soviet Union 12 times. Retired in 1969.
He worked in the Moscow State Conservatory. Chinov is buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery in Moscow.

Chinov était fort en positionnement et avait des réflexes rapides. Il était techniquement doué et maîtrisait bien le palet pour un gardien européen. Bon face aux échappées adverses.
Promit beaucoup durant ses années de junior au point qu'on vit en lui le successeur de Nikolai Puchkov.
Raté. Il ne joua qu'un seul championnat du monde, connut douze sélections nationales, 239 rencontres de championnat et se retira du hockey à seulement 29 ans.
Il travaillait au Conservatoire d'État Tchaïkovski de Moscou. Il est enterré au cimetière Vagankovo de Moscow.
