Fine stickhandler during his playing days. Moved to Ontario in Canada at age ten and learned to play ice hockey there. He was a scholastic and intermediate champion of Ontario.
Returned back to England in 1935 and then Scotland in 1938. Also represented Canada at cricket. Was a good football player as well. Rose to rank of Captain in the Army during WWII and was part of the D-Day landing in Normandie.
Scored more than a point-per-game in his career with well over 300 points to his credit. After his playing career he became a hockey referee for a short while.
Eventually moved back to Canada with his family. Went on to have a successful business career. Died while on holiday in Florida.
Inducted into the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.

Né dans le Yorkshire en Angleterre, il émigra avec sa famille en Ontario à ses dix ans. Il y apprit le hockey sur glace et remporta quelques compétitions de catégories d'âge.
Retourna au pays natal à 20 ans, puis en Écosse trois ans plus tard. Fut cependant international canadien de cricket. Se débrouillait au football mais pas assez pour devenir pro.
Atteignit le grade de capitaine dans l'armée britannique pendant la Deuxième guerre mondiale. Participa au Débarquement sur les plages de Normandie.
Bon manieur de crosse, il présente avec 300 points marqués en carrière un bilan supérieur à un point par match. Se fit aussi arbitre quelque temps après son parcours de joueur.
Retourna au Canada dans les années cinquante où il devint un entrepreneur reconnu. Mort pendant un séjour touristique en Floride.
Introduit au Hall of Fame du hockey britannique.
